Trekking in the 1930s

Fort Stotsenburg / Clark Field 1935

Trekking to Mount Pinatubo began as early as 1900 (based on records found at Fort Stotsenburg now Clark Field) for the simple reason that " it was there and needed to be climbed". Mount Pinatubo then was around 5725+ feet high and trekkers were mostly members of the US Cavalry who had to find some kind of amusement to keep them from boredom.
